24% of NCIS Fans Have An Interesting Choice For the Least Likable Character of All Time

“NCIS” remains one of CBS’s flagship series, thriving after nearly two decades on air. Thanks to its loyal fanbase and consistently high ratings, both the original show and its spin-offs are expected to remain network staples for the foreseeable future (via TV Line).

Premiering in 2003 as a spin-off of JAG, NCIS centers on a team of agents solving crimes involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. From murder and theft to other heinous acts, the series delivers a steady mix of mystery, action, and compelling drama, driven by its strong ensemble cast.

While NCIS stays true to the procedural crime drama formula, offering reliable entertainment, not all characters have resonated with fans over the years. Interestingly, the disdain isn’t reserved for the show’s antagonists—some of the main characters have also faced criticism.

So, who is considered the least popular character among fans?

In a poll conducted by Looper, Anthony DiNozzo Jr. (played by Michael Weatherly) was voted the least likable character, garnering 24.43% of the votes from 618 respondents. While Tony was a fan favorite in the show’s early years, some believe his character hasn’t aged well, leading to his fall from grace with a portion of the audience.

Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) came in second with 19.90%, followed closely by Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) at 18.61%. Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), another formerly beloved character, received 14.24% of the votes.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), despite being the face of the franchise for years, was ranked as the least likable by 12.30% of fans—potentially reflecting lingering frustration over Harmon’s departure from the series in 2021.

Surprisingly, Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), once criticized as the worst main character in NCIS history, received only 10.52% of the votes. Once polarizing, Abby’s character seems to have aged better in the eyes of fans, cementing her place as one of the show’s most iconic figures.
