The couple stood at the altar, clearly frightened, because they knew that this moment would change the rest of their life.
No one spoke in the room. Everyone was looking at them.
This was going to be great.
The groom took a deep breath and proceeded.
“I, Andrew Paul Daniel Instrom…”
Then the bride came next.
“I do take Melissa Renee Warren…”
“To be my legal wife…”
Everything appeared fine until the moment slipped away.
The groom thought for a moment. A little too lengthy.
Then, instead of concluding the pledge like he was supposed to, he uttered something that shocked everyone.
“To be my waffily and pancake…”
For a little moment, no one did anything. It felt like everyone in the room was trying to figure out what they had just heard.
Then it occurred.
Melissa broke down.
She laughed a much. The type of chuckle that comes out of nowhere and spreads quickly. The ceremony had to cease totally in a matter of seconds.
“Just give her a second,” someone muttered, attempting to keep the moment together.
But the more they attempted to become well, the worse it grew. The stress, the anxieties, and the pressure of the moment all turned into laughing and anarchy.
What was intended to be a perfect, emotional exchange of vows transformed into something that everyone in that room would remember for the rest of their lives.
And here is the weird part…
That moment, which was absolutely unanticipated and not ideal at all, became the most important part of their wedding.
Because sometimes, the times you fear would wreck everything are the ones that count the most.
They are still together today.
