Although Married… with Children was renowned for pushing boundaries, one episode in particular proved quite contentious and generated a lot of discussion. The plot revolves around Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal’s characters, Al and Peg Bundy, who surreptitiously film intimate talks at a hotel. However, network management were concerned about the episode’s provocative themes and depiction of privacy abuses.
The episode was deemed too risqué to air at the time due to more stringent television regulations. Because of this, it didn’t air in the United States for years, despite Married… with Children’s enduring reputation for dark comedy. It’s interesting to note that the show did initially air in a few foreign regions before being made available to American viewers.
